About the Role
Kozent Tec is seeking an experienced Medical Billing Team Lead to oversee daily billing operations and support the performance, accuracy, and productivity of our medical billing team.
The ideal candidate will have 4–5 years of experience in US medical billing and Revenue Cycle Management, strong knowledge of insurance claims and payer requirements, and experience guiding or mentoring billing professionals. The role will involve coordinating team activities, monitoring billing quality, resolving complex claim issues, and supporting improvements across the revenue cycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate day-to-day activities of the Medical Billing team.
- Review and monitor claim submission, rejection, payment, and follow-up activities.
- Ensure claims are submitted accurately and within payer filing deadlines.
- Monitor AR aging, unpaid claims, denials, rejections, and underpayments and ensure timely follow-up.
- Review complex billing and claim issues and provide appropriate resolution or escalation.
- Monitor team productivity, quality, accuracy, and turnaround times against established targets.
- Conduct regular quality checks and identify billing errors or process gaps.
- Provide guidance, coaching, and feedback to billing team members.
- Assist with onboarding and training new billing staff on company processes, payer requirements, and billing workflows.
- Coordinate with coding, AR, denial management, payment posting, and other RCM teams to resolve account issues.
- Review EOBs, ERAs, payer responses, and claim status information to identify payment discrepancies.
- Assist with corrected claims, reconsiderations, appeals, and other reimbursement-related activities.
- Track recurring denial and billing issues and recommend process improvements.
- Prepare and maintain billing performance reports and communicate results to management.
- Ensure patient and payer information is handled securely in accordance with HIPAA and healthcare compliance requirements.
- Stay updated on Medicare, Medicaid, commercial payer policies, billing regulations, and industry changes.
- Support special projects and process improvement initiatives assigned by RCM leadership.
Qualifications
- 4–5 years of experience in US medical billing, healthcare RCM, insurance claims, or a related field.
- Previous experience as a Team Lead, Senior Billing Specialist, or Supervisor is preferred.
- Strong understanding of medical billing, claims processing, AR follow-up, denials, and payment posting.
- Working knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10-CM terminology.
- Strong understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance processes.
- Experience reviewing EOBs/ERAs and resolving payer-related issues.
- Experience with medical billing, EHR/EMR, or RCM software.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and team-management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work independently while effectively managing a remote or distributed team.
